Shortly after saying, "I do," volunteers Zach and Lauren Dane packed their car with all the flowers from their wedding ceremony and drove them to the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge Jerome L. Greene Family Center located in New York, NY. The newlyweds placed the purple arrangements in the lobby and lounge areas for the guests to enjoy.
"My wife Lauren came up with the idea," said Zach about the donation. "She knows and shares my passions and she wanted to make sure that all of the flowers that we purchased for the wedding were put to good use for more than just the one day of our wedding."
Zach began volunteering with the Relay For Life of Hofstra University in 2009. His leadership skills led him to serve on the National Relay For Life Leadership Team starting in 2015 and on the Gen2End team this past year. Zach and Lauren met while working as resident assistants at Hofstra University and share a passion for Relay.
"We were able to talk to multiple guests while delivering the flowers," said Zach. "Those conversations only accentuated the joy of our wedding."
Of course, the flowers were all shades of purple which is a color that means a lot to the couple. "We view purple as a color of hope, joy, royalty, and genuine good," he said. "Plus, it's the color of Relay For Life!"PHOTO: From left to right: Lauren Dane, Zach Dane, Monica Schauss (bridesmaid), Anthony Porcelli (best man), delivering flowers to the Hope Lodge.
