The live Stand Up To Cancer telecast returns this Friday night, Sept. 7, marking 10 years since the first telecast and 10 years of lifesaving research achievements. It begins at 8 p.m ET on more than 50 broadcast and cable networks across the U.S. and Canada.
Thanks to staffer Kelli Biello's relationship with KESQ-TV in the Palm Springs, CA, market, a 90-second PSA for ACS will air during the hour-long show. The TV station is a long-time media sponsor for gala and golf. Kelli worked with the station to get 90 seconds of airtime donated to ACS. View the spot here.
The entertainment community's biennial fundraiser will feature lots of stars, including actresses Kathy Bates, Winona Ryder, Jennifer Garner, and Sofia Vergara, journalist Katie Couric, and actors Bradley Cooper, Jason Bateman, Mark Harmon, Matthew McConaughey, and Keanu Reeves, to name just a few. It will feature musical performances by Stevie Wonder, Little Big Town, and 11-time GRAMMY®-nominee and cancer survivor Charlie Wilson.
More than $480 million has been pledged over the past 10 years in support of SU2C’s innovative cancer research. Work by SU2C researchers has contributed to FDA approval of five new cancer treatments. The organization has brought together more than 1,500 of the best scientists from over 180 leading institutions to work together on 24 of Stand Up To Cancer’s signature “Dream Teams.”
