May 1: Join our virtual kickoff for ResearcHERS and invite female influencers to attend

Friday, May 1, we will hold a virtual launch of our 2020 ResearcHERS: Women Fighting Cancer campaign to support women-led research.

Tune in at noon ET on the Vimeo platform to hear these inspiring panelists: Pamela Kreeger, PhD, associate professor of biomedical engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison; Debra Patt, MD, executive vice president at Texas Oncology; and Connie L. Lindsey, executive vice president and head of corporate social responsibility and global diversity, equity, and inclusion at Northern Trust, Chicago. Susanna Greer, PhD, scientific director at ACS and a host of our TheoryLab podcast, will moderate the hour-long program. It will be recorded.

ResearcHERS was a regional pilot in 2019, patterned after Real Men Wear Pink. The peer-to-peer fundraiser focuses on ambassadors who fundraise throughout the month of May to raise money for ACS-approved, female-led cancer research grants. It is female empowerment with a twist: influential women supporting influential women in cancer research.

In 2019, more than 400 ambassadors raised over $1 million for ACS. This year, we hope to recruit approximately 900 ambassadors to raise a minimum of $2,500 each. The 2020 goal is $3 million. If you know women who would like to support this endeavor, please invite them to attend this Friday's kickoff.

The American Cancer Society is proud to be a top supporter of women in cancer research. Currently half of ACS’s grantees are women, most of them early in their careers. ResearcHERS shines a light on the most exciting women-led cancer research projects in the field, and helps sustain the important work of these brilliant scientists.
