American Cancer Society Chief Patient Officer Dr. Arif Kamal will speak on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. ET as part of a live webinar event hosted by Hartford Health Care, a hospital system in Connecticut.
The event, titled “Equity and inclusion in cancer care” will feature Dr. Kamal along with Dr. Madhavi Gorusu, MD, MBA, director medical oncology, Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, Hartford Health Care, and assistant clinical professor, University of Connecticut. The discussion will also include one of Dr. Gorusu’s patients (and her family member), a lung cancer survivor who benefited from inclusive health care.
The webinar is one of a series of free virtual community education classes the hospital system produces, with a goal to educate the general public, health care providers, and patient communities on health-related topics. Dr. Kamal will discuss ACS’s work in patient support and health equity. Dr. Gorusu will highlight equity and inclusion in cancer care as well as advances in lung cancer treatment.
