Giving Tuesday is this week

Nov. 29 event opportunity for year-end giving, with specific gifts matched up to $100,000.

As Thanksgiving is officially behind us, you may be making your holiday list and checking it twice. Before you cross everyone off your gift list, remember this week is also Giving Tuesday, an annual day of giving where people around the world have a chance to participate in radical generosity.

For the American Cancer Society, Giving Tuesday (Nov. 29) is an opportunity to encourage donations to help us end cancer as we know it, for everyone. This year, thanks to a partnership with Mastercard, cancer.org donations on Giving Tuesday could be matched, up to $100,000.

What can you do to help promote Giving Tuesday?

  • Check out cancer.org/givingtuesday and learn more about this event.
  • Watch for several national emails from ACS planned throughout the day on November 29.
  • Watch for posts on ACS social media channels and amplify content on your own channels as appropriate. There will be general posts on national ACS channels, as well as posts tailored to Relay For Life and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer audiences.
  • Encourage donations to help meet the challenge from Mastercard to match donations up to $100,000.

Giving Tuesday activation will include promotion on cancer.org, email, paid media, community fundraising integration, and more.

Messages on Giving Tuesday will focus on the impact ACS makes against cancer, sharing that donations help fund breakthrough research that saves lives, advocate for health equity and more thoughtful solutions for more affordable care, and provide essential day-to-day patient support. Calls to action will encourage donors:

  • To fund a voice on the other end of the line for anyone affected by cancer who needs free answers, support, or just someone to talk to. No matter what and no matter when, your gift can help us be there every step of their cancer journey. $30 could help 1 person find free answers and much-needed emotional support.
  • That getting to and from treatment can be a constant struggle, but not when you help give the gift of a free ride for people with cancer. $50 can help provide 1 free ride and invaluable relief.
  • You could be the reason why people with cancer and their caregivers have a free place to stay when treatment is far from home. $65 can help provide hope in the form of 1 free night of lodging.
