Today, National Cancer Institute-designated Cancer Centers across the country issued a consensus statement urging action to increase vaccination against human papillomavirus (HPV).

The American Cancer Society’s Debbie Saslow, Ph.D., director of cancer control intervention, HPV & women’s cancers, says the time is now to increase HPV vaccination in the United States.

The American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) issued a policy statement this afternoon on HPV vaccination. Published in the Journal of Clinical Oncology, the statement outlines current barriers to HPV vaccination and recommendations to promote the uptake of HPV vaccines. ASCO calls on member oncologists to help lead the push for all adolescents and young adults to be vaccinated against cervical and other cancers.
