Qualifying teams can now support research or ACS mission programs.
The Hero of Research Award is an American Cancer Society Community Fundraising recognition program offered to qualifying, high-performing fundraising teams to name a research grant in honor of a loved one or their team. New in 2023, the Hero of Research program is now expanded to offer two levels of recognition based on team fundraising performance, with a choice to either support an existing extramural research grant or ACS mission program. Both opportunities include naming rights for the duration of the activation. In addition to Relay For Life and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, DetermiNation teams are now eligible to qualify for the recognition program.
Champion of Mission Award
Teams fundraising at the $175,000+ level can support an established intramural mission program through a grant selection active for 1-year (once identified) and a chance to virtually meet with a program lead to learn more about the specific program. All qualifying teams will select from a list of intramural mission programs available for support. Each program on the list will include a program synopsis of how team fundraising dollars will impact and accelerate the ACS mission.
Hero of Research Award
Teams fundraising at the $225,000+ level will select from an approved list of newly awarded Extramural Discovery Science postdoctoral fellowship grants to name. The grant selection is active for three years (once identified), and amenities include the opportunity to virtually meet the researcher and receive annual post-grant updates on scientific progress over the duration of the grant.
