ACS National HPV Vaccination Roundtable names new chairs

Tamika Felder and Dr. Michelle Fiscus to lead group’s efforts.

This week, American Cancer Society National HPV Vaccination Roundtable (ACS HPVRT) announces two new chairs. Their term began on Sept. 1, 2024.

Tamika Felder, pictured above at left, a current ACS HPVRT Steering Committee member, will be stepping up to serve as one of the roundtable’s tri-chairs. Tamika is cancer survivor, award-winning women’s health advocate, and chief visionary at Cervivor - a nonprofit dedicated to cervical cancer advocacy and support. Tamika also has a mission to eradicate cancer and shine a spotlight on the patient voice in healthcare. In May 2024, Tamika was appointed by President Biden to the National Cancer Advisory Board.

Dr. Michelle Fiscus, pictured above at right, will be joining the roundtable as a Steering Committee member and the second new incoming chair. Dr. Fiscus served as the medical director of the Tennessee Department of Health’s Vaccine-Preventable Diseases and Immunization Program. She now serves as the inaugural chief medical officer of the Association of Immunization Managers, the professional organization of the 64 CDC-funded immunization programs across the US states, territories, and major cities.

New Steering Committee members who will join the ACS HPVRT include Rebecca Coyle, executive director of the American Immunization of Registry Association (AIRA), Ryan Lester, vice president of the Health of the Public and Science (HOPS) division at the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) and Dr. Brigid Groves, vice president of Professional Affairs at the American Pharmacists Association (APhA).

The ACS HPVRT, founded in 2014 by the American Cancer Society and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, is a coalition of more than 90 organizations working at the intersection of immunization and cancer prevention to raise HPV vaccination rates and prevent HPV cancers in the United States.

The ACS roundtables are a recommended and proven model for creating sustained partnerships across diverse sectors and communities to collaboratively address the most complex problems across the cancer continuum. ACS provides organizational leadership and expertise to support the roundtables and their members in their efforts to further a shared vision of giving all people an equal opportunity to prevent and survive cancer.
