Bob Crutchfield discusses BrightEdge on CNBC's Squawk Box

We've made five investments to date

Bob Crutchfield, managing director for BrightEdge, was featured as a thought leader on the December 27 broadcast of CNBC’s Squawk Box (6-9 a.m. ET).

During the segment focused on IPOs and venture capital, Bob explained the American Cancer Society's goal to bring promising new therapies to cancer patients as soon as possible, hence its investments in companies in market or close to bringing new products to market.

Watch the interview here.

Bob, who shared that he is a testicular cancer survivor, noted that the philanthropic fund made one investment in 2018 and four in 2019. Returns on investments are reinvested in more lifesaving technologies and our mission. While donors do not earn money on their investments, they do get to see where every dollar was invested and its impact, as well as receive a tax deduction.

The minimum donation to invest in BrightEdge is $1 million. By contract, the average yearly donation by an individual to ACS is under $100, Bob said.
