National coalition established to address the alarming rise in prostate cancer diagnoses.
The American Cancer Society is proud to launch the seventh of its mission critical roundtables, the American Cancer Society National Prostate Cancer Roundtable (ACS NPCRT), on Sept. 5. ACS NPCRT was established to address the alarming rise in prostate cancer diagnoses, with a particular focus on Black men, who face disproportionate rates of incidence and mortality in the US.
ACS NPCRT is a national coalition of member organizations dedicated to leading collective action for improved prostate cancer outcomes across the US by promoting evidence-based strategies and catalyzing policy and patient care solutions. The strength of such a partnership enhances the work of each member and furthers the cause of prostate cancer risk reduction, early detection, diagnosis, and treatment.
The ACS roundtables are a recommended and proven model for creating sustained partnerships across diverse sectors and communities to collaboratively address the most complex problems across the cancer continuum. ACS provides organizational leadership and expertise to support the roundtables and their members in their efforts to further a shared vision of giving all people an equal opportunity to prevent and survive cancer.
William Oh, MD, professor of medicine in the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology at The Tisch Cancer Institute and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, will serve as the chair of ACS NPCRT. He will be joined by Vice-Chair, Yaw Nyame, MD, MS, MBA, assistant professor and surgeon at the University of Washington, and ACS Chair, William Dahut, MD, chief scientific officer, pictured at right.
The ACS NPCRT Steering Committee will hold their first meeting in Washington, DC on September 4, prior to the launch event. Thank you to our sponsors, Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson, for making this initiative possible. More information about the ACS NPCRT launch will be shared during and after the event.
