Attendees focuses on propelling patient navigation into the future.
More than 130 patient navigation experts, advocates, and thought leaders from across the US recently convened in Washington, D.C., for the ACS National Navigation Roundtable (ACS NNRT) Annual Meeting.
It was the first time in five years the group came together in-person to learn, collaborate, and build momentum to propel patient navigation forward. Between Sept. 18 - 20, attendees shared ideas and strategies for achieving ACS NNRT’s five-year AIM (2021-2026): supporting the creation of a sustainable model for oncology patient navigation to achieve health equity across the cancer continuum.
During the meeting, presenters covered a wide range of topics, including:
- Preparing for and utilization of the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Principal Illness Navigations Codes,
- Current and future implications of the Oncology Navigation Professional Standards of Practice,
- Building a business case for the sustainability of patient navigation,
- Updates on the patient navigation policy landscape.
The keynote speaker was Annabella Aspiras, assistant director for Engagement on the White House Cancer Moonshot. Attendees also celebrated ACS Senior Vice President, Patient Support Strategy & Operations, Jennifer Greenwald’s tenure as the roundtable’s ACS chair, and welcomed her successor, ACS Senior Vice President, Cancer Treatment & Support, Shanthi Sivendran.
Many thanks to the ACS NNRT team for making this meeting possible, including Kristina Thomson, Michelle Chappell, and Sarah Shafir. Pictured above are ACS and ACS CAN team members.
